We have a team of 9 people who make up our Board.  The Board meets 7 times a year to plan, execute and evaluate the various seminars and keep the vision of ministry going.

Staff: 

 

Janice Visser is the part-time Coordinator.  She attends Orland Park Christian Reformed Church with her family.  She has a BA from Calvin College, major in Religion and Theology (1991)  & a MRE (Masters of Religious Education) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  (1994)

Jan has worked for 4 churches (3 in Chicago South area and 1 in Michigan).  She also taught Bible courses and Church History at Chicago Christian High School for six years from 1997-2003. 

She loves Jesus and enjoys working with people, encouraging and equipping them in the areas of education, care-giving, outreach and service.

Who are we?

Christian Service Ministries is a ministry of the Christian Reformed Churches in the Chicago South designed to help the local churches work with their local communities at their point of need.  Christian Service Ministries offers training sessions, resources, and encouragement for church deacons and all those with enthusiasm for ministries in their church and community. 

Why are we here?

Christian Service Ministries was developed to work with the local churches, to help them identify needs within their local community. Christian Service Ministries is here to facilitate the reaching out to the need-meeting ministries in our communities.

Where are we?

Christian Service Ministries is based out of Oak Forest. We represent the 17 Christian Reformed Churches located in the Chicago South classis (region)--including Hyde Park, Roseland, Pullman in the city, the South Suburbs such as Burbank, Oak Lawn, Palos Heights, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Frankfort and even reaching as far as one church in Champaign.  We join with other churches in these communities who share a passion for helping those in need.

Who are we here to help?

Christian Service Ministries is here to serve all churches in our region. We are here to develop those members with a passion for ministry into Christ-like servant leaders.

The goal of Christian Service Ministries is to help the deacons and volunteers to "represent Jesus" among many people in their own communities. This work will help those in need and also help the deacons and volunteers with encouragement and spiritual growth in their own lives.
